Food vendors to operate again along Capitol Drive with permit

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Plans to allow food vendors to operate on Capitol Drive are moving forward.

Vendors have been banned from the area since March. 

In a statement, Alderman Lamont Westmoreland says vendors can now apply to operate in the Capitol Drive density-limited zone, along Capitol and 76th to the city limits at Mayfair Road.

Westmoreland says this new zone addresses parking and cleanliness issues and blocked views for drivers. 

Vendors must get a permit, and vendors can apply through the License Division by May 17.
