MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A hometown dancer shared the Super Bowl halftime stage with singer Usher on Sunday, Feb. 11.
University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee senior Davien Holton, a dance major, said he applied to be a part of the halftime gig back in December.
Holton sent in a virtual audition tape, and it wasn’t until January when he learned he too would be packing his bag to head to Vegas.
"All of a sudden I get a vibration, it's going to be my mom again, because I just got off the phone with her and low and behold it's an email that I'm doing the Super Bowl, so I was like oh okay cool," said Holton.
The dancer said he stayed in Vegas for two weeks rehearsing, leading up to Sunday night's performance.
"Crazy, we had people that were on the side just like greeting us as we were coming into the tunnel and like cheering, and it was just like anther rush," said Holton.
Holton could be seen during parts of Usher's performance giving it his all as his mom watched from Milwaukee.
"I was yelling and screaming, 'There's my baby! You see him? Look,'" said Brandy Webb.
Webb went on to say her son's performance felt inspirational.
"A lot of entertainment hasn't come out of Milwaukee, and he's born and raised here so he's basically showing people that you can still do it, you can follow your dreams," said Webb.
Holton is also a 414 Crew dancer for the Milwaukee Bucks. He said the next performer he would like to dance with is Missy Elliot.
