2024 has been a warm start to the year. As April wraps up Tuesday it continues to go down as one of the warmer months on record. And overall 2024 has been warm, even warmer than 2023. Going into the last day of the month the year to date is running just a tenth of a degree cooler than 2012 as the warmest start to the year.
The warmth will continue through the rest of the week with high temperatures in the 60s to the low 70s. So there is a good chance by the end of this week that 2024 overtakes 2012 as the warmest start to the year.
April has been a fairly wet month with some good rain chances but overall the precipitation for the month is sitting very close to average. The real surplus has been for the spring months since March 1st with a 3"+ precipitation surplus and exactly 4" of precipitation surplus for the year!
Another round of showers is possible Tuesday night into early Wednesday. The best timing looks to be from 11 PM to 5 AM. A few light showers and an isolated storm are possible but some of our viewing area could stay dry. Rain totals are likely under a tenth of an inch with the showers.
Thursday has a better chance for rain with scattered showers and a few storms looking likely off and on throughout most of the day and lingering into Friday morning.
