MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee is preparing for the first weekend of May, and Ian Thompson of VISIT Milwaukee joined us on Thursday, May 2 to preview some of the events coming up.
The opening of the Potawatomi Sportsbook will take place Friday, May 3. The new sportsbook invites folks to place wagers all day, every day. The venue offers a 2,000-square-foot video wall, VIP areas and a bar.
On Saturday, May 4, the second annual Get Down & Derby Party kicks off at On Tap Bar & Restaurant. This free event is set to feature a DJ dance party, drink specials and a live broadcast by 102.9 The Hog. It begins at 1 p.m., with registration required for entry.
Also on Saturday, the Cinco de Mayo Festival will celebrate Mexican culture with food, dance and a tamale eating contest. The event is set to feature some of Milwaukee's best taco trucks.
Concluding the weekend, the Rock and Roll Playhouse presents the Music of Taylor Swift for kids at Turner Hall Ballroom on Sunday, May 5. The family-friendly concert series will offer games and music exploration activities, starting with free admission for children under one year old.
