We are only a few days away from the official start of Spring and with that our severe weather season is getting closer. Do you know what the difference is between a watch and warning? The answer is today's Weather Whys.
A watch during severe weather season indicates the risk of hazardous weather. Severe Thunderstorm or Tornado watches are indications that hazardous weather is possible but not immediately occurring. It is a heads up for you to stay up to date with the latest weather conditions and start making a plan.
A Severe Thunderstorm or Tornado warning mean that life threatening conditions are occurring, imminent or likely. During a warning you want to take action immediately to save lives like going to your basement during a tornado warning.
Weather Whys is a segment by Meteorologist Justin Thompson-Gee that airs during the CBS 58 News on WMLW - The M from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. The segment answers viewer weather questions, explains weather phenomena and reveals interesting weather stats.
