Admirals finish 'reverse sweep', advance to Central Division Final

NOW: Admirals finish ’reverse sweep’, advance to Central Division Final

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Three games in a row, every one of them must win or the season ends. The Admirals won every one of those games. They wasted no time making the statement today. Zach La-Rue lights the lamp not once, but twice in just 15 seconds apart. Two goals in the first minute. The Admirals ended up with three goals in the first, and two more in the third.

There is escalation in the Panther Arena as they are on to the division finals.

When the Admirals got home, they had their backs against the wall. After losing the first two games in their best of five series against the Texas Stars, but this is the Admirals team that won 19 in a row during the regular season and had the best record in the entire western conference as home. So, they were able to finish off what they called a 'reverse sweep,' winning three straight to advance.

"You never want to be down, oh two, but at the same time we never stopped believing. We just know to a man in there that we're a really good team and we weren't willing to go down without a fight," said Troy Grosenick.

"The best teams, they play together. It doesn't matter if you're up two or going down two. I think that was our message from some of our older guys in the room. You just have to stick together. When you do, that this is what happens. You get right back in the series then take it over," said Cal O'Reilly.

After losing game two, coach Karl Taylor made a change in the net putting in the hometown kid, Troy Grosenick in to start the final three games.

"Troy came in and grabbed the opportunity. You can't ask for more than what he's given us. So, we're really proud of his effort and glad he could do it in front of his family," said Karl Taylor, head coach.

Milwaukee advances to the Central Division Final, another best of five series. The Admirals will play the first two games at home than three and four will be in Grand Rapids. If needed, game five will be back at the Panther Arena.
