MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- During a record month of violence in Milwaukee many of the victims have been children, including an 11-year-old boy who was shot while on his way home from school.
It happened Jan. 31, around 2:40 p.m. The boy's older brother picked him up from school and they were planning to pick up their other brother from a different school, get some food then head home.
Near the intersection of 74th and Capitol, Milwaukee police say four suspects pulled up beside them and fired rounds into the car.
The 11-year-old boy was hit three times. His brother took him to the hospital where their mom met them.
The little boy did survive.
Milwaukee police said it was a busy time of day. They believe someone saw something, and they're hoping someone can come forward.
"It's crazy. It's a kid that should be thinking about what his after school snacks should be, playing a video game or playing with friends," said Milwaukee Police Detective Ben Canniff. "Instead, he ends up -- for no reason -- ends up shot, having to go to the hospital and probably traumatized for some time to come."
