MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A man attempted to rob a bank at gunpoint without wearing a mask. Now, investigators are hoping you can help find him.
Milwaukee police detectives said the robbery happened at the BMO Harris Bank near National and Layton.
Witnesses say he walked in, asked to open an account and then handed the teller a note that said "this is a bank robbery." The suspect also gestured to his waist to imply he had a weapon, officials said.
According to police, the employee told the suspect she didn't have a drawer so she couldn't give him any money.
The suspect left and was last seen walking south on Layton.
"The fact that the suspect, due to Covid, wound up unmasked -- the use of masks overall are common, so that people can enter a business and not be noticed because now masks are considered normal. It's only up until someone brandishes a firearm that someone notices, like a teller, that they are being robbed," said MPD Detective Tony Castro.
If you know anything about this robbery, call Milwaukee Crime Stoppers at 414-224-TIPS. Your call is always anonymous, and if your tip leads to an arrest, you get a cash reward.
