47-year-old man dead in officer-involved shooting near 145 and Good Hope Road

SLINGER, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The victim of the Sunday, May 5 officer-involved shooting has been identified by the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office as 47-year-old Steven A. Wyman of Slinger.

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- An investigation in underway after a Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office deputy shot and killed a person near 145 and Good Hope Rd. on Sunday, May 5.

According to the sheriff's office, Slinger police were looking for a child abuse suspect who was armed and threatening suicide by an officer. 

Germantown officers spotted a car with the 47-year-old male suspect inside and started a chase with the driver reaching speeds of more that 100 mph.

The sheriff's office said the driver stopped on Highway 145 and ran through traffic to a dog park. A person called police stating they saw the suspect near 108th and Good Hope Road.

A deputy reportedly caught up to the suspect and shot them several times, killing them at the scene. 

Officials also say that a deputy found a knife at the scene. 

The deputy who fired the shots is a seven-and-a-half-year veteran of the sheriff's office. They have been placed on administrative leave, pending the outcome of the investigation. The Milwaukee Area Investigative Team is investigation the shooting with the Brookfield Police Department leading the case.
