MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A 20-year-old Milwaukee man is in critical condition following an officer-involved shooting near 64th and Sheridan late Sunday, March 24.
Police responded to the scene around 11:15 p.m., after receiving several calls of shots fired in the area.
Upon arrival, police say officers located an armed suspect who abruptly fled from them on foot.
Police say during the chase, the suspect discharged his firearm at officers and then multiple officers returned fire -- subsequently striking the man several times.
The 20-year-old suspect was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
No officers or other community members were injured, and the suspect's firearm was recovered on scene.
The three officers involved -- a 24-year-old man with over five years of service, a 30-year-old man with six years of service and a 34-year-old man with over one year of service -- will be placed on administrative duty as is routine with officer-involved shootings.
The incident is being investigated by the Milwaukee Area Investigative Team with the Wauwatosa Police Department as the lead agency.
