"Bad Timing": Bucks Fans React to John Hammond's Departure

Former Bucks General Manager John Hammond is out in Milwaukee.

Hammond announced Tuesday that he's leaving the Bucks to take on the same job with the Orlando Magic.

It brings an end to a 9-year tenure, featuring multiple playoff appearances, and the growth of a roster many believe is on the cusp of competing.

"It's just disappointing," says Fan John Woodsoju. "Maybe he could have waited a couple years."

Woodsoju says it feels like a step back for the franchise, which has developed one of the NBA's most exciting young teams.

"You can see it's on the horizon, it's very close. I'm actually pretty disappointed."

Others say the move might not be such a bad thing.

"Getting some new blood in that office, with the new stadium and everything that's coming up, it might actually be a good thing," said Chris Wells.

Hammond is widely expected to be replaced by current Assistant G.M. Justin Zanik. Zanik was hired last summer after working with the Utah Jazz. Zanik's name is one Bucks fans still have to familiarize themselves with.

"Never heard of him," says Wells. "I'm gonna have to do some research."
