MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) –The Milwaukee Bucks partnered with Make-A-Wish to grant a teenager from Greece the trip of a lifetime.
Dimitris Zamanis traveled from Greece to Milwaukee to meet and spend time with his favorite Bucks player. On Tuesday, the 15-year-old hit the court with his idol, Giannis Antetokounmpo. The two shot hoops, ran through drills and practiced with other players.
“He [Antetokounmpo ] told me how to shoot, how to handle the ball,” Zamanis said.
The special day was a break from doctors visits for the teenager, who has a rare condition where his body doesn’t produce enough new blood cells. His mom and brother were able to make the trip to Wisconsin with him.
“I was about to cry because his dream came true,” Dimitris’ mom Haroula Zamanis said. “He loves and admires Giannis and Giannis is a big star in our country, he’s our Giannis,”
Dimitris said it’s an experience that will stick with him for years to come.
“It’s definitely the best day of my life,” he said.
Zamanis and his family will sit courtside when the Bucks take on the Atlanta Hawks Tuesday night.
