Casino Patrons Shaken After Shots Fired Inside Potawatomi

Potawatomi Casino reopened just after 7 a.m. on Friday after Milwaukee Police responded to a call of shots fired on the gaming floor.

A suspect was quickly taken into custody and no one was hurt. People inside the casino at the time said it was a "very scary" situation.

“It was a horrible feeling to think you’re running for life," said Sue Te Stroete. "You don’t know where the next bullet is going to come from.”

It went from fun to frightening quickly for Greg Weinhart, who was about to cash in his winnings when he heard the gun.

“Once I heard the shots, I printed my ticket, I left and I ran.”

Weinhart told CBS 58 he thinks the man who fired the gun was upset about losing money.

"He had everyone at the table with a handgun that was playing with him, laying on the floor and he basically told him the give up all their money," he said.

The casino issued a statement which said,

“There were no injuries related to the shooting, however several minor injuries were sustained while people were leaving the scene. Our thoughts go out to those affected.”
