Chance for storms on Friday. Heat will build!

The pattern over the next several days will feature a major ridge of high pressure across the central plains.  That ridge will nudge the jetstream overhead tonight into Friday, and that could mean a chance for showers and storms.

Storms that develop along the jet are called ridge riders.  They typically develop over the high plans and drop southeast over Minnesota and Wisconsin.  The models have been all over the map with the placement of the storms.

If storms do develop for Friday morning, they could contain gusty winds and small hail.  They will also keep temperatures down with extra clouds and an onshore wind.  We will watch for those chances overnight./  We still expect highs in the lower 90s for Friday with a heat index between 100 and 105 degrees!
