Company buys former G. Daddy’s BBC building for redevelopment

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – A section of Milwaukee’s East Side will be getting a face-lift in the coming months.

A group of buildings that used to house the popular taverns, G. Daddy’s BBC and Hotel Foster tavern, is going to be redeveloped.

J. Jeffers & Co. bought the buildings along with a nearby retail strip for more than $4 million. The company hopes to bring in a restaurant, store and create office space inside the former G. Daddy’s BBC building. The company also plans to keep the historic look of the buildings while helping revitalize the area.

“We’re just hoping that this will be a catalytic project to North Avenue and we’re hoping that this will spur other developments and improvements in the area,” J. Jeffers & Co. vice president Marnie Noel said.

Located near the former G. Daddy’s BBC building is Milwaukee’s first cat café. The café is expected to open in the coming months. Also in the area, Rosatti’s Pizza Sports Pub closed about a year ago. An announcement about what will fill the space is expected soon.
