The promotion is an effort to get friends and families to engage in meaningful interactions while dining.

The rules are simple: Lock up your phone while you dine, and enjoy a 5% discount on your meal.

A study by Deliotte says that 81% of Americans spend time looking at their phones while dining out. Each table at Cafe Benelux on August 8 will have a lock box that will house any phones for the duration of the meal. If you stay strong until the end, the 5% discount is yours.

Following the meal, guests will be invited to share their experience using #friendsnotphones.
