Drunk pedestrian hit by car cited, Madison police say

MADISON, Wis. (WISC) -- A pedestrian who was injured after he was struck by a car on Madison's north side Friday was cited, police said.

Madison police said a 77-year-old Madison woman and her 78-year-old husband had just finished their workout at a local health club at 8:23 p.m. and were driving home when they struck a man in the road.

According to the report, the man was intoxicated and wearing dark clothing when he suddenly showed up in the middle of the road in the 2800 block of North Sherman Avenue.

The woman said she was driving about 25 mph when she struck the man. Police said she was concerned for his welfare.

The man was taken to a hospital with a broken pelvis and fractured vertebrae. He was cited on suspicion of failure to yield to a vehicle.
