Fall Is A Great Time to Travel Wisconsin

Travel experts say fall is a great time to get outdoors and see Wisconsin. Susanne Thiede-Barnet, with the website witravelbestbets.com, joined us live on the CBS 58 News at 4 to talk about some of her favorite spots for fall.

For people that like to fish, Boulder Junction in Vilas County is known as the "Musky capital of the world." It's about a four-hour drive from Milwaukee, and features 50 Class-A musky lakes. Musky can sometimes be tough to catch, but plenty of guides are available to help people land that lunker.

Elsewhere in Vilas County, Land O'Lakes is near the Wisconsin/Michigan border, and has clear lakes, tons of wildlife and a 19-thousand acre protected forest. Outfitters there can fit you with canoes or kayaks, because no gas motors are allowed.

For staying closer to home, Thiede-Barnet recommends West Bend. About a 45-minute drive from Milwaukee, West Bend is known as a geocaching hot spot, with more than 15-hundred geocaches within a 10-mile radius.
