First widespread freeze of season in effect Saturday night

SOUTHEAST WISCONSIN (CBS 58) -- Temperatures have been chilly all week long with most seeing the first true frost of the season on Thursday morning. Sunday morning looks to top that with widespread lows in the 20s inland and even the majority of lakeside spots getting below freezing.

A freeze warning has been issued for all of southeast Wisconsin with the anticipated cold. Make sure you bring any plants inside and winterize your home by closing storm windows and disconnecting outdoor hoses so they don't freeze.

Most communities across the area have trick-or-treating on Sunday and temperatures will stay chilly in the afternoon and evening. Air temperatures will reach the low to middle 40s for most, but wind chills will stay in the 30s all day long. The treat may be a little bit of sunshine especially in the early afternoon. Bundle up the kids in layers!

The chill will last through the middle of the week with lows staying in the 30s and highs in the low to middle 40s. By next weekend a warm up looks possible with highs reaching the 50s!
