Franklin Police address school shooting rumor at Franklin High School

FRANKLIN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Franklin Police Department took to social media to address a school-related threat rumor that they say was spread by students and even parents.

Police say that a rumor started recently after a student allegedly told another student that they shouldn't attend school on Monday. Police say that message caused rumors to spread about several alleged threats referencing guns, shootings, and kill lists.

Franklin Police say they took the incident very seriously and investigated the validity of the alleged threats before determining there was no credible threat.
