Free Harvest Fair at Wisconsin State Fair Park happens this weekend

WEST ALLIS, Wis. (CBS 58) – Officials at Wisconsin State Fair Park are excited to announce activities and entertainment for Harvest Fair 2017, presented by Meijer, Friday, September 22 through Sunday, September 24 at Wisconsin State Fair Park. Admission is free and the event will take place Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Harvest Fair takes place in Central Mall and Central Park, as well as Original Cream Puff Pavilion (Harvest Café), Exploratory Park and The Back 40 (west of the Original Cream Puff Pavilion).

The event features free live entertainment and activities for the entire family. Headliners at the Bank Mutual Amphitheater include Here Come The Mummies on Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., The Box Tops on Saturday at 2 and 5 p.m. and Bobby Way and the Wayouts on Sunday at 2 p.m.

New this year, families can visit Exploratory Park for traditional Harvest Fair activities like Harvest Fair Backpack Decorating and Leaf Your Print, plus new activities including Ring-A-Duck and Schoolhouse Story Time in Smokey’s Schoolhouse. And the Giant Slide will be open at Harvest Fair.

Other family favorites are back, including Pumpkin Bowling and Hay Rides, along with all of the Harvest Fair traditions like Scarecrow Making, Cookie and Caramel Apple Decorating, Amusement Rides, the Kiddie Tractor Maze and more!

The Great Lakes Timber Show will feature chainsaw carving, axe throwing, wood chopping, two-man crosscut sawing, log rolling and loads of humor.

Activities require the purchase of tickets at ticket booths located throughout Harvest Fair. Tickets cost $1 each and the number of tickets required per activity is posted at each location.

Many state fair food and beverage vendors will also be open during Harvest Fair, and families can enjoy All-You-Can-Eat Pancake Breakfast Benefitting the West Allis Lions Club until noon on Saturday and Sunday. Prices for the breakfast are $7 for adults ages 13 and older, $5 for youth ages 6-12 and children 5 and under are free with the purchase of an adult breakfast.

Maker Faire is also back at Wisconsin State Fair Park in conjunction with Harvest Fair and will feature several exciting and intriguing displays for visitors of all ages. The World Beef Expo will also take place.
