Kenosha man dies four days after shooting
PLEASANT PRAIRIE, WI (CBS 58) -- A 25-year-old Kenosha man who was shot in the head while driving on December 9 has succumbed to his wound. The Pleasant Prairie Police report that Douglas Stelter Jr died at the Froedtert Medical Center in Wauwatosa on Thursday, December 13.
Stelter was shot around 3:30 PM on December 9 while driving a pickup truck on Highway 50 near 88th Avenue in Pleasant Prairie. Pleasant Prairie Police responded to what they believed to be a multiple car accident near that intersection. When officers arrived, they found that Stelter had suffered a single gunshot wound to the head. He was immediately taken to a local hospital and then flown by Flight For Life to Froedtert Hospital where he died four days later. A 25-year-old woman was also in the vehicle with Stelter. There is no report on her condition.
During the incident, Stelter’s truck hit several cars that were stopped at a red light in the eastbound lanes of HWY 50. A driver from one of those vehicles was taken to the hospital to be treated for a non-life threatening injury.
The Pleasant Prairie Police are continuing to investigate the shooting death.
