NOW: Local mother critically injured in crash involving tow truck fleeing from police

MILWAUKEE Wis. (CBS 58) -- A Mother is fighting for her life after she was critically hurt in a hit-and-run crash that left the family's mini-van pinned between a building and a tree. Now, a woman is facing several felony charges in the crash.

In a CBS 58 News exclusive, the victim's family talked about the pain they continue to go through. A few years ago, the family lost their father and now they're in jeopardy of losing their mother.

Nereida Sotelo is the oldest daughter in the family. She's a nursing student in Ohio who received the alarming call that something terrible had happened. Sotelo arrived in Milwaukee to find her younger brother and sister had suffered fractures, minor brain bleeding, and bruising. They've both been discharged and remain on crutches. Her mother, however, remains in critical condition and unable to talk. She has facial fractures, broken ribs knee and ankles, and a collapsed lung.

The family says they're not sure she'll make it but they remain hopeful.

Sotelo's mother was the main breadwinner after having lost their father from medical issues. Her siblings are college students. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help with everyday expenses and assist in potential bills.
