Mayor Barrett responds to claims that the Streetcar is costing the city jobs

MILWAUKEE Wis. (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett is pushing back against Alderman Zielinski's claims that the streetcar is costing the city jobs.

"I think what he's trying to do is divert attention away from the budget and this huge pension payment we have to make on behalf of police and fire," The Mayor said.

Barrett's budget proposal calls for 33 job cuts at the police department.

Zielinski says the City could save two of those positions if they don't hire a safety manager and a system manager for the streetcar. Barrett says those positions couldn't even fund two police officers.
