UPDATE: Police chase leads to fatal crash near 10th and Layton

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred after a chase with Greenfield Police.

Authorities in Greenfield say officers stopped a car near W. Loomis Rd. and W. Layton Ave. around 3:15 a.m. As officers approached the car, it took off going east on Layton.

Officers then followed the car but terminated the pursuit due to high speed near 27th and Layton. Soon after, officers began checking the area for the suspect vehicle. The car was found near 10th and Layton where it had crashed into a semi-trailer, according to police.

The driver and sole occupant of the car was killed in the crash. Greenfield Police say no officers were pursuing the car at the time of the crash.

The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating the crash.

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – One person is dead after a police chase ended in a crash early Monday morning in Milwaukee.

Authorities say Greenfield Police attempted to pull over a car around 3 a.m. when it drove off. Authorities say they chased the vehicle until it was too dangerous. The chase was called off near 27th and Layton.

Police say the driver of the car then smashed into a semi near 10th and Layton. The driver died on impact. Authorities say the driver was in his thirties.

Police say no one else was hurt.

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – One person is dead after a two-car crash Monday morning in Milwaukee.

Authorities say it happened near 10th and Layton. The Milwaukee County Examiner's Office responded to the scene and confirms one person died. 

No other details are immediately available.
