MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee Police are asking for help to find the suspect in a child abduction.

According to police, the abduction happened around 7:25 a.m. on Thursday, January 11 in the 900 block of S. 21st Street. Police say a suspect entered the victim's automobile which was running with keys in it and also had the victim's 7-year-old son inside.

Jennifer Mora's mother lives across the street from where the incident happened outside of Longfellow Public School. Mora's mother said a child was waiting in the car for school to start Thursday morning. She claims the child's father is a crossing guard at the school. She said the father was helping a student cross the street, with the car still in sight when the man jumped in the driver's seat.

"It was still early for him to drop off the kid. He was just crossing the other kids, and then he sees that someone gets into his car," Mora said.

Mora said her mother heard the child cry for help.

"The window was rolled down a little bit. and my mom said she heard the little kid yell," Mora said.

Investigators say the suspect drove the vehicle away for about a block, exited the vehicle, and fled in another vehicle. Police say the child was unharmed. Surveillance video shows the man in a black sweatshirt with the hood up. Police believe he was waving to try and get into a friends car.

The suspect is described as a black male, 14-21 year old, 5’5” to 5’7” tall and weighing between 90 and 160 lbs. Anyone with information is asked to call the Milwaukee Police Department at 414-935-7360.
