Milwaukee Travelers Keep Eye On Hurricane Matthew

Flights to Florida were taking off from General Mitchell International Airport as scheduled Thursday morning, despite the threat of Hurricane Matthew.

Some flights to Orlando were cancelled for Thursday afternoon, causing some Milwaukee passengers to have to rearrange flights.

Otherwise, people flying out of General Mitchell said they weren't going to let a little rain get in the way of a planned vacation.

"Doesn't really faze me," said Nicole Bower, who was traveling with her friend to Disney. "It's kind of like when you prepare for a big blizzard here."

Bower was traveling with her friend Sara Bigus, who said she was still excited to get to Orlando, even if it meant a few days of bad weather.

"We're going for a week, so we're confident that the meteorologist are true with the nice weather they've predicted for next week," Bigus said.
