National groups book $9.5 million in governor's race ads

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Republican and Democratic groups have booked $9.5 million worth of television ads for Wisconsin's governor's race.

The Wisconsin State Journal reports Friday that the Republican Governors Association has booked $5.7 million worth of ads for Gov. Scott Walker, while the Democratic Governors Association plans to spend $3.8 million for its eventual nominee.

The RGA ad buy is for the final nine weeks of the election. The DGA but is for the final five weeks before the Nov. 6 election.

DGA spokesman Jared Leopold says the Republican ad buy is "recognition that this is one of the most competitive gubernatorial races of this cycle and Scott Walker is one of the most endangered incumbents in America."

Walker's campaign declined to comment.
