New Berlin man nearly run over by semi-truck in Washington County

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) – A 61-year-old New Berlin man is taken to the hospital after the Washington County Sheriff’s Office says he was nearly run over by a semi-truck he was working on.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the man was an employee of a local trucking company and was in Richfield Wednesday morning. Investigators say the semi was parked when he tried to break his frozen brakes loose with a hammer. The brakes then released which sent the tractor rolling about 150 feet before another employee was able to stop the semi.

The man hung onto the undercarriage of the semi the entire time to avoid being run over by the unmanned semi. The Sheriff’s Office says while he did have some injuries, he was not run over.

The Sheriff’s Office is still investigating.
