Nine injured after major crash in Fond du Lac

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Fond du Lac Fire Department tweeted out Sunday afternoon that they responded to a major crash involving four vehicles on Highway 23 near Whispering Springs Drive on the east side of the city. The crash was reported around 4:28 p.m.

The crash resulted in nine people being injured including one with life threatening injuries. One of the people injured had to be extricated from their car.

Flight For Life was called to the scene but was unable to respond due to the rain.

The preliminary investigation shows that a 2001 GMC Jimmy was driving west and slowing down to turn left into a driveway. A 2015 GMC Sierra driving behind the Jimmy was slowing down to go around the Jimmy. A semi also traveling in the same direction rear-ended the Sierra which pushed the Jimmy into oncoming traffic where it hit a 2014 Toyota Sienna.

Highway 23 was closed for over 90 minutes.
