One injured in Racine building fire Friday night

One man needed medical attention after a building fire damaged a business in the 1300 block of Douglas Ave. Friday night.

Fire crews responded to a call of "dark black smoke coming from the building" on Douglas Ave. When crews arrived, one adult male was found inside the building and was taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Racine.

Fire crews were able to contain the fire to a single apartment, but smoke and water damage to nearby units forced the remaining three occupants to find shelter with Red Cross.

There were no other injuries reported in the fire and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

The building is owned by DBW Investments LLC. The estimated loss from the fire is $25,000.
