Packers will plant 477 trees for their 477 first downs

The Green Bay Packers, along with program partners SCA and Green Bay Packaging Inc., will mark another successful year of the “First Downs for Trees” program by planting trees at Allouez’s Green Isle Park on Monday, June 5.

This year, the program donated 477 trees to 17 local communities including: Allouez, Ashwaubenon, Bellevue, De Pere, Green Bay, Hobart, Holland, Howard, Lawrence, Ledgeview, Pulaski, Scott, Suamico, Village of Wrightstown, Town of Wrightstown, Brown County and the Oneida Tribe.

Two corporate partners, SCA and Green Bay Packaging, Inc., once again this year provided the program with funds to result in the planting of trees in Brown County communities. Program supporters, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and Wisconsin Public Service, will also participate in the event.

Two nurseries, Meacham Nursery and Leaves Inspired, provided the trees this year. A combination of elm, maple, lilac, oak, honey locust and flowering crab trees are among the species that were planted.
