Pursuit results in fatal two-vehicle crash in Manitowoc County

MANITOWOC COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A pursuit in Manitowoc County has ended in a fatal two-vehicle crash.

A Manitowoc County Sheriff's Deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a white 2006 Lincoln Town Car on STH 147/ S. Main Street within the Village of Mishicot for multiple violations.

The operator, a 48-year-old man from Two Rivers, fled by traveling southbound on STH 147.

The suspect then collided with a white 1995 Mazda pick-up truck at the intersection of STH 147 and Crystal Springs Road in the Township of Two Rivers.

Both vehicles had final resting positions in the east ditch of the intersection.

The operator of the pick-up truck was identified as a 25-year-old Two Rivers man. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect was taken to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

The distance of the pursuit was approximately 4 miles and reached speeds of roughly 100 mph, the Manitowoc County Sheriff's Office says.

The Wisconsin State Patrol, Wisconsin Department of Justice, and Manitowoc County Coroner's Office are assisting with the investigation.

The investigation remains ongoing.
