UPDATE: Two dead after trike rear-ended ejecting driver and passenger into oncoming traffic

YORKVILLE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Racine County Sheriff has updated information on a crash that happened Friday afternoon.

A driver and passenger were riding in a three-wheeled motorcycle that was stopped on County Highway C going west at 59th Drive waiting to make a left turn when it was rear-ended by another car. 

The two people in the trike were ejected and landed in oncoming traffic where they were both hit. 

Both driver and passenger suffered major injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car that caused the crash was cited for inattentive driving.

The victims in the crash have been identified as 65-year-old Phillip Burmeister and 62-year-old Nadine Burmeister. Both were residents of Racine County.

RACINE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Racine County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating a double-fatal accident.

According to the Sheriff's Office, a man and woman in their 60's were killed in a three-vehicle accident in the Town of Yorkville.

It happened shortly before 5 p.m. on CTH C at 59th Drive.

The names of the victims are not being released at this time.

The accident remains under investigation.
