Severe Threat is Over Tonight

8:30 PM UPDATE: A few rain showers and isolated storms may be possible over the next few hours; otherwise, our focus has shifted to a quiet night without severe weather.  The cap, or warm lid in mid-levels of the atmosphere held during the day, and that really limited the explosive storm development.

We will watch the weather closely for you right here. Please download the CBS 58 Ready Weather app for up to the second watches and warnings, along with the blog, videocasts, and the interactive radar.

The good news with any storms that develop is they will bring an end to this hot and humid stretch. Much more comfortable air arrives Thursday and Friday.  Thursday will feature the upper 70s and lower 80s under a mix of clouds and sun.  There could be an isolated chance for a shower during the late afternoon.
