Snow ending this morning, cold through the weekend

This storm has driven in some impressive snowfall totals across the Badger State. Just outside of Green Bay, in Suamico, 11” has fallen already since last night, Wausau is approaching a foot at just under 11”, and La Crosse and Eau Claire are both over 6”. Southeastern Wisconsin didn’t tap into that moisture and string of energy until yesterday late morning and afternoon, and that is keeping the totals down. Nonetheless, the roads are ugly this morning with a mix and snow falling since yesterday. The good news is the precipitation will come to an end this morning.

There remains a chance of a wintry mix by tomorrow and tomorrow night, but it won’t be the blockbuster we saw in this past storm. There could be a rain/snow mix with possibly some accumulating snow. We will watch this very closely.

The cold is the theme so far to kick off the month of April. Average highs should be near 50 today, and we will be closer to average highs for the third week of February. The arctic chill continues into early next week before starting to warm back up closer to average. The second half of the month will usher in milder conditions while the cold begins to retreat.
