Study: Half of Americans aren’t taking a summer vacation

(CBS 58) -- About half of Americans say they don't plan on taking a summer vacation.

A study by Bankrate found the number one reason people aren't taking time off is cost. Unemployment is low and wages are slowly starting to rise, but still many people say they just don't have the extra cash to spend on a getaway.

That could mean lots of wasted vacation days. Even when people are given paid time off, only 36% of workers surveyed said they plan to use all of their allotted time off. About 13% say they won't take any of their given vacation days.
