RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) – Several hundred free meals are being served for families in need or anyone who just wants some company this Thanksgiving.
Thousands of people are now enjoying a free community Thanksgiving Day feast. More than 370 volunteers helped put it all together.
More than 2,500 people are expected to be here enjoying a free Thanksgiving meal including turkey, ham, potatoes, dessert, and a whole lot more.
Anyone is welcome to attend. The co-founders say the event is magical.
“You might get a retired business owner sitting next to somebody that's homeless and they strike up a conversation. We get a lot of friendships develop here from people of different backgrounds and walks of life. Everybody just stays on a real equal level and you can feel it in the air and it's really special,” says co-founder Dan Johnson.
They also have a collection bin set up for people to bring non-perishable food items for the Racine County Food Bank. Thursday’s feast runs until 2:00 p.m.
