Turning much colder late this week, accumulating snow this weekend

It has NOT felt like your normal January the last 14 days! The last two weeks have featured highs that stacked up like this:

20s: 4 days

30s: 3 days

40s: 6 days

50s: 1 day

Not too bad if you ask me considering this is typically the dead of winter in Wisconsin! The overall pattern begins to switch as the mild air moves away after Wednesday and the highs fall into the teens for the first time since January 13th. This arctic air will come in two waves; the first late this week, and once again after a clipper system late this weekend.

The clipper is expected to bring snow to the region as early as Friday night into Saturday night. As always with snow events, there are plenty of uncertainties that remain including timing and amounts. As of right now, one of our long range computer models are indicating 2”-4” of snowfall. I can guarantee this number will fluctuate! This isn’t expected to be a major winter storm; however, it will cause some travel difficulties over the weekend.

We will iron out the timing and the amounts for this system by late this week…stay tuned!
