Two dogs die in Washington County house fire

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Tuesday afternoon around 4:30 the Washington County Sheriff's Office responded to a house fire on Edelweiss Lane in the town of Barton. 

The first deputy that arrived on scene could see smoke coming from the soffits. The Deputy entered the house briefly to try and find a pet but was unsuccessful. 

Firefighters from West Bend as well as six other area fire departments responded and controlled the fire, but the interior sustained extensive damage.

No one was home at the time of the fire so no one was injured, but two family dogs died. 

Damage in the fire is estimated at $100,000.The cause is under investigation but does not appear to be suspicious.
