MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Hunger Task Force is making sure families have hearty and healthy meals this holiday season.
Volunteers helped pack 800 meal boxes at the Hunger Task Force's distribution center. The boxes include everything needed for a holiday meal including potatoes, canned vegetables, oranges, cheese, candy canes, and a ham.
"We're providing these meals to families who are in tough times. This is a grandma who can't provide a meal for her family. These are kids who are just learning what the holidays are about and finding how that warm holiday meal is part of the warm memories that come with the holidays," said Jonathan Hansen, Director of Development for Hunger Task Force.
The meal boxes will be distributed to food pantries in Milwaukee County and then handed out to families in need.
