WAUKESHA COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The search for Jonathan Pogreba is over.

The Waukesha County man who’s been on the run for more than two weeks turned himself in Thursday and is now in custody.

After being on the run for more than two weeks, Pogreba showed up to the Waukesha County Courthouse with a small group of people, including his attorney Donna Kuchler.

As soon as he walked through the security checkpoint he was handcuffed.

Pogreba didn’t say anything as he was taken into custody, but his attorney didn’t seem to be expecting his quick arrest.

“It’s really sad that you’re going to do that when he turned himself in,” Kuchler told the officers.

Kuchler confirmed with CBS 58 Wednesday that Pogreba was going to appear in court and was scheduled for his initial appearance at 1:15 Thursday afternoon. After his arrest, the court appearance was rescheduled for Friday.

“That’s very sad when we made an arrangement for a voluntary arrangement today and they have to do a show of force and take him into custody,” Kuchler said. “It really discourages people from turning themselves into the court. “

Pogreba has already been charged with several misdemeanors and a felony related to the domestic incident with his wife in the Town of Eagle on June 5th. Shots were fired and Pogreba took off. Waukesha County deputies searched for him for two days. Pogreba stole a car from a neighbor’s house, then broke into a house in Trempealeau County, leaving a note saying he was on his way to the Boundary Waters. Sixteen days later he turned up at the courthouse.

His initial court appearance is now scheduled for Friday afternoon.
