What you need to know for Sunday's Packers game against the Saints

GREEN BAY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Lambeau Field is ready for Sunday’s Packers-Saints game, the team’s Packers Vs. Cancer game, presented by Bellin Health. The game will recognize those who have battled and continue to battle cancer in a variety of ways and will honor cancer survivors on the field prior to the game.

Fans will receive Packers Vs. Cancer banners upon entering the stadium, with a space for fans to write the name of someone they know who has been affected by cancer. Markers will be available to write on posters in the concourses and in the Atrium.

Game attendees are also encouraged to donate to the Packers Vs. Cancer text-to-donate campaign if they are able. The Packers will match up to $10,000 of the money raised. To participate, fans can donate $10 to the campaign by texting “Packers” to 50555 from Oct. 16 through Oct. 22. All of the proceeds will go to the Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation.

Fans can also show their support for those battling cancer with the limited edition Vince Lombardi cancer awareness hat, available for purchase at the Packers Pro Shop, with $5 from each hat sale going directly to the Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation.

Prior to Sunday’s game, the Packers and Verizon will team up to host a wireless phone drive in support of domestic violence survivors. Part of Verizon’s HopeLine® program, the special collection invites fans to donate their no-longer-used wireless phones, batteries and accessories from any carrier.

Volunteers will be accepting donated phones and equipment from 10 a.m. until kickoff at the Mills Fleet Farm, Oneida Nation, Miller Lite and Verizon Gates. All phones collected will be distributed to and provide support for survivors of domestic violence in Wisconsin. Those who will not be at the game can still donate by bringing their used phones and accessories to Lambeau Field and donating at the Verizon HopeLine® donation box in the Atrium, or at any area Verizon store.

Two featured alumni are scheduled to make appearances Sunday; Chuck Mercein and Michael Butler will be taking part in fan activities at the Johnsonville Tailgate Village and Legends Club, respectively, leading up to kickoff. Chevrolet will also be hosting a free autograph signing with Packers alumnus Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila from 9 to 11 a.m., next to the Johnsonville Tailgate Village.

Prior to the national anthem, the Packers and WPS Health Solutions will be recognizing Dustin and Natalie Wenzel and their family through Operation Fan Mail on the field. The national anthem will be performed by three members of the orchestra from the Broadway musical “Aladdin.”

The pregame festivities will also honor Delainey Rice-Bley from Green Bay, Wis., as the “Shopko Kick-Off Kid.” She has set up a free stand with lemonade and treats and asked for donations for the Wounded Warrior Project. For each donation to the Wounded Warrior Project, she makes and donates a toy to a local animal shelter. Learn more about Shopko's Kids Making a Difference at shopko.com/kickoffkid.

During halftime, the High School Quarterback Challenge, presented by HPE and Camera Corner, will feature players from Brookfield Central and Nathan Hale High Schools of West Allis in an on-field competition. Also, performance painter David Garibaldi will create a work of art to raise money for cancer-related charity.

Fans on Sunday can enjoy the Johnsonville Tailgate Village, the permanent tailgating and event space in Lambeau Field’s east side parking lot. The JTV, along with the parking lots, will open at 8 a.m. for ticketed and non-ticketed guests alike and will feature live music, food, beverages and a festive tailgating atmosphere.

The Lambeau Field Atrium, including 1919 Kitchen & Tap, Packers Hall of Fame and Packers Pro Shop, will be open to ticketed guests only beginning at 8 a.m., and stadium gates will open at 10 a.m. Visit http://www.packers.com/gameday/ for more information.
