Will Storms Impact the Fireworks Again Tonight? It's Possible!

Will the weather cooperate for Summerfest and the fireworks tonight? The risk remains in place for showers and thunderstorms later today and early tonight.

The setup isn’t as great as yesterday, but there’s enough energy in the atmosphere to kick up showers and thunderstorms. Humidity will continue to stream in along a front today which will help steer showers and thunderstorms. Highs will crank back up into the 80s with dew points into the 60s. This is enough fuel to jump start thunderstorms by day’s end. The Storm Prediction Center has put parts of the area under a *marginal* risk of severe storms. The main threats will be high winds, large hail, and heavy downpours.

The timing for the stronger storms are looking to hit between 8pm and midnight. This does not bode well for getting in the fireworks. The best case scenarios are either the storm skips south or moves in quicker.

Storms remain in the forecast Friday as well. The far southeastern corner of our viewing area will be under the gun for stronger storms. Our big weather maker moves out for the weekend. This leads to drier conditions, sunshine, and highs around 80 degrees.
