Wisconsin man arrested for 10th OWI

SUN PRAIRIE (CBS 58) -- On Saturday, October 7 at around 8:56 p.m., Dane County received a call from a person reporting a vehicle driving erratically on County Highway N in Sun Prairie.

The caller followed the car and reported that the driver left the road and was stuck in a ditch.

Dane County Deputies arrived and identified the driver as 52-year-old Sun Prairie man Michael Vernig. Deputies conducted standardized field sobriety tests and Vernig was arrested for his tenth offense of OWI.

Vernig is currently being held in the Dane County Jail on the charge, which is a Class E Felony and carries a mandatory prison sentence between four to ten years.
