Two in custody for shots fired incident that shut down freeway on Tuesday

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Two people are in custody after a shots-fired incident closed down part of the freeway for hours Tuesday.
Police responded to 4th and Lapham for reports of a shooting, but no one was actually hit. The northbound lanes of I-94 at the Becher/Mitchell Street exit were closed while Sheriff's Deputies investigated a car with damage to the passenger window.
It's still not clear how the car is connected to the investigation. The 31-year-old and 25-year-old men are facing charges.

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- After being closed for hours Tuesday, the northbound lanes of I-43 North at the Becher/Mitchell exit have reopened.
Milwaukee Police say they were called to the area of 4th and Lapham around 11:00 Tuesday morning for shots fired.
Witnesses in the area say they heard about five shots. At this point, police do not believe anyone was hurt. Police on I-43 could be seen searching a blue car and CBS 58 saw officers take one person into custody.
A woman who lives nearby passed the scene.
"We drove by really slow and we seen like those little makers so there must be some kind of bullet casings or something out there that they are marking or whatever it might be and there was a hole in the window," said witness Cindy Mathes.
Police say they are still looking for suspects. They have not released many details about this investigation and it's still unclear exactly where the situation unfolded.

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Police are still investigating a report of shots fired on the freeway at I-43/94 near the Becher/Mitchell exit.
Milwaukee Police say they were called to the area of 4th and Lapham, which is close to the freeway, around 11:10 Tuesday morning for shots fired. Investigators say it does not appear anyone was injured and they are still looking for the person or persons responsible.

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- All northbound lanes of I-43/94 are blocked at the exit to Becher/Mitchell for a law enforcement investigation, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation. Traffic is expected to be impacted for about two hours.

I-43/94 NB traffic can exit at Layton Ave east to I-794 west back to I-43/94 to bypass the incident.
