AP source: MLB owners approve plan to start season in July

By RONALD BLUM AP Baseball Writer

NEW YORK (AP) — A person familiar with the decision tells The Associated Press that Major League Baseball owners have given the go-ahead to making a proposal to the players' union that could lead to the coronavirus-delayed season starting around the Fourth of July weekend in ballparks without fans.

The plan Monday envisions expanding the designated hitter to the National League for 2020. Spring training would start in early to mid-June.

Each team would play about 82 regular-season games, most against opponents in its own division. Postseason play would be expanded from 10 clubs to 14 by doubling wild cards in each league to four.

I feel they should do like they are going to do in the restaurants where every other seat or every two seats are empty and let the fans back in to be fans. I feel they've taken this Corona virus 19 whenever you want to call it a little bit too far You're going to open up restaurants you're going to open up pet stores you're going to open up this and that so what's the difference if you open up the stadium but you must wear a mask come on now let's get real with this

Open up, but be smart about it. Would you really feel safe taking your family to a Brewers game on a month...especially if the stands were full? C"mon?

Games without fans...…..overpaid players having batting practice.

Fans dictate salaries. If there are no paying spectators, players dont get paid. So far, it has always worked in the players favor. Just saying.
