Bay View High School students' ice cream for sale at Purple Door in Walker's Point

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- An ice cream flavor made by Bay View High School students is now for sale at Purple Door Ice Cream in Walker's Point.

They won a competition against other MPS schools this past spring.

Their winning flavor is called Bango Helado Con Chamoy. It's a mango and beet ice cream with a Mexican dipping sauce. 

One student tells us the mango flavor was inspired by her Hispanic heritage after their teacher suggested using beets.

"It's going to be the best thing you ever tried," said co-creator Emily Hernandez. "Honestly, it's really good."

If you want to try it, you'll have to hurry. Purple Door says they have enough to last about a week.
