CEDARBURG (CBS 58) -- An 86-year-old man is dead after a fire started inside his Cedarburg home. His daughter, 63, was critically injured and taken to the hospital.
Cedarburg Fire was called out to the home near Hillcrest and Lincoln around 9:30 a.m. on Friday.
“Lots of heat and smoke damage, there wasn’t a lot of fire just heat and smoke," said Cedarburg Fire Deputy Chief Kim Esselmann.
When police officers got to the scene, they saw heavy smoke from the window. Officers forced themselves inside where they found an 86-year-old man laying on the ground.
"They entered the residence, dragged him out and unfortunately he is deceased," said Esselmann.
His daughter was also in the home and taken to the hospital.
“There is an investigation around a chair but no electrical is current," said Esselmann.
The State Fire Marshall was called to the scene to assist the Cedarburg Police and Fire Department with the investigation. The cause of death is still unknown.
