MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – Love is in the air on what has been an unseasonably warm Valentine’s Day. As always, couples picked the day dedicated to romance to plan their weddings.

CBS 58’s Jacquelyn Abad attended several weddings at the Milwaukee County Courthouse and at Lakefront Brewery. All the couples we spoke with say they’ve been waiting for the day for a long time.

Mr. and Mrs. Lyev-Wroten decided early on they wanted something a little more intimate for their big day.

“We wanted to do something that was for us. If we are going to spend a lot of money, it’s going to be for a nice vacation,” said Lisa Lyev-Wroten.

The couple picked a place where they’ve shared some fond memories: Lakefront Brewery.

“It still does not feel real, I’ve been waiting for this for a while,” said

At Lakefront, the weddings and vow renewals are free and the couples got to celebrate with some free beer too.

For couples like Babs and PJ Johnson, it isn’t the first time they’ve said “I Do.” The two renewed the vows they made 18 years ago.

“I’m wearing my original wedding veil and it still fits,” says Johnson said.

For Wednesday’s weddings, it’s also special for those officiating them. Judge John DiMotto has officiated hundreds of weddings during his career.

“A day like today, Valentine’s Day, the more weddings a judge gets to preside over is a better day for us,” said Circuit Court Judge DiMotto.

More than 30 people signed up at the courthouse signed up at the courthouse to tie the knot. Johnathan and Amber Salaam were surrounded by the ones that matter most.

“We wanted something small with our family and this was the easiest way to go,” said Amber Salaam.

On this day of love, the Johnsons say it’s the love that’s kept them together.

“Stick with it. You will have to work at it. It’s hard sometimes, but love always wins.”

Between Lakefront Brewery and the courthouse, about 58 people were married on February 14. Lakefront Brewery has weddings going on until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday.
